The Nautical Station of Sines
The Nautical Station network is a structure of quality nautical tourism, coordinated from the integrated value of nautical resources in a territory, which includes the provision of accommodation, catering, nautical activities and other services relevant to the attraction of tourists and other users, adding value and creating distinct and integrated experiences.
The Nautical Station of Sines, integrated within the Nautical Stations of Portugal is certified by the Association of Maritime Economy – Forum Oceano.
The Nautical Stations of Portugal introduces a model for organizations and their territories concerning the diversity of the tourist supply, seasonality issues and increase of the expense per visitor on the territory. Remarking an image of reference, quality and promotion for tourism products at an international level. For future visitors, the Nautical Station guarantees the quality of the touristic product and services, while also providing information support for booking accommodation and other services.
Coordenating Institution
The Municipality of Sines is the coordinating institution for the Nautical Station of Sines.
As a promoter, co-promoter or partner, the Municipality of Sines has developed several projects and activities related to the Sea, developing the cultural, sports and patrimonial offer and attractiveness of the territory.
The CEO of Sines Tecnopolo, Mónica Morais de Brito is the coordinator of the Nautical Station of Sines. Sines Tecnopolo is an association owned 88% by the Municipality of Sines and a partner to the Nautical Station of Sines.
Mónica Morais de Brito holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Coimbra, with vast coordinating numerous projects related with the Tourism area. She is also a member of Nautical Portugal, representing Sines Tecnopolo. Coordinator of a Postgraduate Degree in Sea Tourism at the Lusófona University of Sciences and Technology and a professor in the Tourism Department. With several national and international projects under Portugal 2020 and INTERREG, the Sines Tecnopolo and the Municipality of Sines also promote one of the most important maritime events in the region (Feira do Mar).
